The MESCAL5 is our paraglider for training and your first flights in thermals. Experienced pilots will also appreciate its balanced flight behavior and its truly simple features – especially when conditions at launch, landing or in the thermals are not easy.
The MESCAL5 is the glider of a new generation: because it’s often small things that make a good product even better. We wanted to make the MESCAL5 not just a little, but a lot better than its predecessor, so we applied our treasure trove of experience from four MESCAL generations. We improved a lot of small details, and at least as many other details are completely new. We want to make it even easier for student pilots to enter the third dimension. And for leisure pilots to have even more fun.
For all gliders purchased after July 1, 2007, Skywalk offers its customers the skywalk 2 + 2 Guarantee – an additional warranty that goes beyond the minimum required by law.
These are the designs of our basic models.
HOW DOES THE MESCAL GLIDE?
We increased the number of cells slightly compared to its predecessor, while innovative technologies such as the shark nose, double 3D shaping at the leading edge and modern design methods ensure perfect pressure distribution and make the wing even more aerodynamic. The result is a more refined handling and a clear performance plus compared with its predecessor.
The MESCAL5 has new ergonomic risers that are well-arranged and sit comfortably in your hand, thus simplifying launch preparations. All lines are from LIROS and are sheathed, sturdy and designed for longevity – as is the Porcher Marine material for top and bottom sails and for the profile ribs.
Did you know already? The MESCAL5 feels great in the air and has exceptionally balanced handling.
Why? Because control line travel is neither too long nor too short, control pressure is neither too high nor too low, and the new MESCAL wing is neither nervous nor too damped. As a result, student pilots and novices immediately feel confident in the air. Advanced pilots are excited about how intuitively the MESCAL5 can be flown. It handles figure-eights, full circles and thermals effortlessly. The MESCAL5 is smooth and harmonious, even when the thermals pick up suddenly and get turbulent. That helps novices progress faster while experienced pilots enjoy an afternoon over the summit of their local mountain.
Landing is also pleasantly easy. The traffic pattern is fun to fly because you can fine-tune your speed on downwind, base and final approach, ensuring a spot landing every time! And if you misestimate yourself, our Jet Flaps provide you with an additional safety margin to ensure a stall break without surprises.
The only thing left is to wish you a good flight!
For an EN-A wing, the MESCAL has many noteworthy construction details, normally only featured in higher classified wings.
The leading edge is reinforced by flexible nylon elements, the same elements in the sail serve to prevent deformations in the canopy.
This makes the MESCAL an excellent starter for all conditions.
Just like its big brothers the CAYENNE4 and CHILI3, the MESCAL is equipped with only 3 line levels. This simplifies ground handling and decreases drag considerably.
Cleanly arranged risers with 5-point-check instructions as well as new, variable and ergonomically economical brake handles round off the MESCAL.
The MESCAL sets benchmarks in safety.Reaction to disturbances, should they occur despite the high stability, are very moderate. Pitch and pendulum activity after a collapse are very subdued, the wing opens quickly and dependably. Thanks to integrated Jet Flap Technology, travel to stall is very long and an early, massive increase in brake pressure. It is not so easy to destabilise the MESCAL, making it an ideal relaxed companion for all conditions.Of course the MESCAL was also certified without the use of folding lines!Suitable for beginners on the training hill, the MESCAL also offers lasting satisfaction for ambitious hobby pilots for their first XC flying experiences.
With the implemented design features, the performance comes almost by itself, even if this is not the first priority in this wing category.
The Mescal climbs beautifully in weak thermals as well. The glide ratio is at a new level which just a few short years ago belonged solely to the domain of high performance wings.
The trim speed is more than sufficient and with the speed system an additional 10km/h can easily be achieved.
All in all a perfect package for the training hill, long thermal flights as well as the first xc flight experiences.
